SCANDINAVIAN TOUR 1968
Town Hall Court - Gothenburg January 16, 1968

Very rare photography.

On January 3rd 1968, The Experience landed at Torslanda airport, Gothenburg, Sweden for a brief four-date tour of Sweden and Denmark. The band checked in at Hotel Opalen and later in the evening went out to a local night club, returning to the hotel at around 2 a.m. Around 4 a.m. a guest on the floor below complained to the night receptionist about a disturbance in the room above. Letting himself into room 625 using his universal staff key, the portier was met with signs of destruction and Hendrix was laid out on the bed in a pool of blood as he had broken the hotel window with his right hand. The police were called and five officers arrested Hendrix, charged him with criminal damage and drove him to the hospital to have his hand attended to. The police put an immediate travel ban on Hendrix and ordered him to report to the police station every day at 2 p.m. until his court appearance on January 16th 1968 - however Jimi and the Experience was allowed to play their consecutive shows in Sandviken and Stockholm.
